Bayswater Waves Aquatic Centre

Problems solved for the client in this
extensive refurbishment.

This major refurbishment of the Bayswater Waves Aquatic Centre required a complete refurbishment of the 50m pool’s exterior including retiling, painting and installation of accessories along with the construction of new grandstand and concourse, decommissioning and removal of the dive pool, upgrade to pipes, extensive concrete repairs to the pool’s walls and base, and new landscaping.

In undertaking the original scope for repairs to the grandstand, it was discovered that its remaining lifespan was limited. Classic advised the client of a solution to construct a new one on top of the old that would remove the need for an extensive demolition. The brand-new grandstand also gave the facility the compliant seating, handrails and modern tactile features that were missing in the old design.

This was one of several issues we identified and provided solutions to during this project. Others include a design solution for the drainage issues that brought them into compliance with AS1428 access.

Despite these extensive scope changes and poor weather conditions causing delays, we once again completed this project to the client’s satisfaction and are proud of the work we’ve contributed to this popular Perth facility.
