Environmental Responsibility

We’re reducing waste and water use, minimising our impact on the environment, and reducing long-term environmental impacts.

Classic Contractors have a proactive attitude to support, develop and promote environmentally sustainable business practices that prevent pollution, minimise waste, promote environmental awareness and protection, protect work sites and address community concerns.

Every site is unique in its requirements. Classic Contractors identifies and applies
the appropriate environmental protection response for each project.

These initiatives include:·

  • Identification and conversion to low-impact products and processes.

  • Environmentally appropriate product stewardship.

  • Creating sustainable business partnerships for future generations.

  • A culture of protection towards the environment.

  • Implementing policies on the safe use and disposal of industry products and effectively communicating these to our staff and contractors.

  • Educating new staff in all our procedures.

  • Assessing environmental conditions as an integral part of our organisational planning process.

  • Conducting comprehensive site clean-ups.

  • Complying with all legal requirements that affect operations and products.

  • Being responsive to client and community concerns.

We work in partnership with the Environmental Protection Authority and all relevant environmental bodies and take our responsibilities seriously by making sure we leave a minimal footprint on our sites. A recent example is Classic’s work building a popular riverside café in Perth that saw us working with the Swan River Trust to uphold their Swan Canning River Protection Strategy by fencing off trees, ensuring no wash-out run-off made its way into the river and all handling of materials was done at a safe distance from washways, all waste was separated, and no work crossed the physical river line.

We support suppliers and manufacturers who emphasise environmental protection in their product development, and seek technologies that offer improved product performance along with safety and reduced environmental impact.

  • The technological advances Dulux® have achieved have resulted in a durable, highly visible and longer-lasting range of water-based products that meet customer demand for safety, reliability, and environmental protection.

Classic Contractors are a Dulux-accredited company that gives preference to their products in our painting projects. We use Dulux Envirosolutions® products in our day-to-day operations to reduce our water use, including their Envirowash® system that turns paint wash-out into treated water and solid waste, allowing for easier and safer disposal.

We have partnered with Dulux® in their Project Earth initiative where any plastic water-based paint drums, pails, and tear strips we use are recycled instead of going to landfill. The recovered materials are repurposed by Dulux® into saleable paint tools such as roller trays.

  • “Classic Contractors are committed to monitoring and seeking continuous improvement in our environmental performance and that of our suppliers.” Mark Stewart, Managing Director

Classic Contractors continues to evolve and challenge traditional ways of thinking. We have proven to be more than just policy or promises, but instead have invested research and development funding into more efficient business methods, future technologies, and ensuring our environmental responsibilities are achieved through innovative, conscientious, and sustainable project management.
